Couple of the Year 2008
We are excited about being selected Indiana 2008 Couple of the Year. It’s the opportunity of a life time. We look forward to making new friends and visiting with old ones over the next Year. We want to share with everyone what fun we had participating in District Couple of the year and hope to encourage other Chapter Couple to just have fun as the Couple of the year. For those of you that don’t know us yet (you will). We met right after high school in 1978. We have been married 28 years and have 5 wonderful children, 2 boys and 3 girls that range in age from 13 to 25 and 3 grandchildren all girls that are 1,2, and 3 years old. The youngest will begin learning about papaw’s wing this summer, and we’re sure she will like it just as much as the other two. Kim, aka: “The Boss”, has worked for Justice Middle School for the last 8 years, she is the Librarian at this time. Richard has been with J-Trans Inc., a trucking company for the past 23 years. You will see Brittnie and Wesley our youngest two children with us at most events and rallies they enjoy traveling with us as a family. Our family has been to 12 rallies since 2004. Richard and Wesley can normally be seen with his 2007 Dark Blue Gold Wing at Bike Field Events and Top Gun competition. Richard has competed 6 times in Top Gun Competitions. Kim and Brittnie can be found looking for chrome and lights for her 2003 Red Silver Wing. Someone needs to tell her its all about Gold Wings. Kim has been riding since 2004 and has over 20,000 safe miles. Richard was raised on the back of his mother’s Honda and did lots of riding as a kid. As a young man with a family he did very little riding. In 2001 Richard was setting up a trip to Alaska and needed a Gold Wing. Now we have owned six Gold Wings and one Silver Wing and every one was our favorite. Richard has over 100,000 safe riding miles since joining GWRRA. We have been members of GWRRA, Indiana Chapter B-2 located in Marion, IN. since 2002 and what a time it’s been. In 2006 we became the Assistant Chapter Director then in 2007 were asked to be the Chapter Director (like they needed to ask). We were honored with being selected the 2007 Couple of the Year for our Chapter. The Couple of the Year program is one we encourage all Chapters to be involved in. What better way to say” Thank You” to an outstanding couple for their involvement and supporting of the Chapter and GWRRA. We thank every one in our Chapter for your love and support and giving us the honor of representing Chapter B2 as Couple of the Year. We have had a blast as Chapter Couple of the Year and look forward to the year ahead as District Couple of the Year. Richard and Kim Monroe
