Joe & Paula Swift
District Couple Of The Year (COY) 2011
 We are Joe and Paula Swift, Assistant Chapter Directors and the
2011 Indiana District Couple of the Year. We live in Indianapolis and
belong to Chapter L2 in Greenwood, IN. We Have been married for 16
years. We have two children and one grandson. We also have four Sugar
Gliders, Ozzie, Harriet, Kiwi and Kink. Joe has been riding motorcycles
for over 30 years and I have been riding for over 40. There's nothing
like a ride on a Gold Wing or a visit with our fellow Goldwingers. The
riding season takes over our lives and we love it!
Joe owns his own business on the south side of Indianapolis and
I work for the Department of Defense Finance and Accounting Service as a
Safety Officer
We joined GWRRA in September of 1998. At our third meeting the
chapter director asked us to become the Newsletter Editors, being new
and unaware of what was required we published the monthly newsletter,
and kept that duty for 14 years. Over the years we have held numerous
positions within the chapter and also served on the Indiana District
Staff as Assistant District Directors for 6 years. We have attended and
enjoyed every Winter Rendezvous and Spring Wing Warm-Up since becoming
members, 5 Wing Dings, and most of the Region D conventions. We have
also attended other state conventions and have had a great time at them
all.
Joe and I are certified bike show judges, Joe is a Trainer and I
am a certified CPR, First Aid and AED instructor. We are Senior Master
Level Riders and very proud of our accomplishments. We have recruited 15
new members and continue recruiting more at every opportunity.
Being selected as the 2011 Indiana District Couple of the Year is a great honor and we are having a ball so far and hope to continue
enjoying ourselves while carrying out the duties of the Indiana Couple
of the Year. Since taking on the position we are visiting chapters,
started a scrapbook, met a lot of new people and had a lot of fun. We
are looking forward to Region D and continuing our journey, wherever it
takes us. We strive to represent Indiana and GWRRA members to the best
of our ability and our goal is to promote the Couple of the Year Program
and make it the honorable position we feel it is. We want to thank
GWRRA members for giving us this opportunity and hope we are
accomplishing our goals and making you proud!
