& Shirley Lee
We are John & Shirley Lee from Rockville, Indiana and we are honored to have been asked by Stan & Becky to join the District Team as Assistant District Directors for the southwestern quadrant of Indiana. We were both born and raised in Rockville and attended the same grade in school all 12 years and we will be celebrating our 52nd wedding anniversary this June. We have 2 sons and 1 daughter and 5 grandchildren and they all live close by in the Rockville area. We owned and operated a small grocery store in Rockville, which had been a family owned business since the 1890’s, and in June 1992 we traveled to Indianapolis to the State House where we were presented a State of Indiana Century Business Award by the Governor of Indiana for still operating a family business in existence for over one hundred years. We retired from the grocery business in 2005 and now we are able to do more traveling on our motorcycle and visiting lots of beautiful areas throughout the United States. We have owned and ridden motorcycles all our lives but did not join GWRRA until May 1991 when we joined Chapter “D” in Terre Haute. We served as Assistant Chapter Directors for 2 years and Chapter Director for 2 years and at the 1997 Winter Rendezvous in French Lick we, along with Marvin Henry who was Chapter Director of “A-2” Lebanon, had the honor of being named the first Senior Chapter Directors of Indiana and we served as Senior Chapter Directors until that tenure ran out. In 1999 we had the honor of being chosen by District Directors Eric and Jan Franson as one of the Assistant District Directors where we were working with 9 chapters throughout the southern part of Indiana. We served as the Assistant Directors from 1999 thru 2001. We are life members of AMA and after putting a trike kit on our Gold Wing we joined the Trike Riders International. We have made many long lasting friendships since joining GWRRA and we would never have had the opportunity to meet all these friends if we had not belonged to GWRRA and we are looking forward to adding many more new friends as we travel around and working with the current District Team. The chapters we will be traveling to will consist of Lafayette Chapter “K”---Bloomington Chapter “Z”---Terre Haute Chapter “D”---Washington Chapter “M” and Evansville Chapter “O”. As we travel to your chapter gatherings, rides and rallies this year please come up and introduce yourselves as part of the many GWRRA friends we have not yet met. John & Shirley Lee
