Bob & Diana Wilson
We wish to introduce ourselves. We are Bob and Diana Wilson. We are the newly appointed Assistant State Directors for the Central Section of Indiana. Our “GWRRA Family” will include Chapters B-2 in Marion, Chapter J in Kokomo, Chapter K in Lafayette, Chapter A-2 in Lebanon, Chapter P in Noblesville, Chapter E in Anderson, Chapter H-2 in New Castle, and Chapter L in Richmond. We have been members of Chapter B-2 in Marion since 1989. We have held several offices in our chapter. We have been the Rider Educator, Treasurer (under several Chapter Directors), and Newsletter Editor. Most recently we served as Chapter Director for 4 years. We are now Life Members in the GWRRA. We are very proud and honored to be Master Tour Riders # 4999 and # 5000. Without the opportunity of taking many ERC courses and learning about safety, we would not have been able to survive the many riding hazards that we have experienced during our many years of riding. We have owned 5 Gold Wings over the years and have enjoyed them all. Diana didn’t start riding with me until 1993. She had been a member of GWRRA since 1989, but always followed in our car. When she saw our 1993 Candy Apple Red Gold Wing sitting in the driveway, she took a leap of faith and started riding with me. We are now riding a 2003 orange 1800. She thinks it is her bike, but she has never cleaned it. We had the pleasure of riding across these United States on Route 66 in 2003. We have also enjoyed many trips to the Eastern States. Our favorite trip is to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We have been married for 36 years. We have two sons, Keith and Chris. Keith and his wife Lora live in Moorland, IN with their two children, Garrett 8 and Katy 6. Garrett really loves to ride with Grandpa, so Grandma reluctantly gives up her seat sometimes. Our younger son Chris and wife Amy live in Solon, IA with their daughter Mary 4. We usually get to visit with them 3 or 4 times a year. Bob is retired from Dana Corp. and now drives a school bus and works part-time at a small machine shop. Diana was a former teacher and has been the librarian at Kendall Elementary School for 17 years. We feel blessed to have our health and the joy of seeing our children grow up and have good families. We have enjoyed making so many new friends over the years in GWRRA and feel very honored to be asked to be on the Indiana State Staff as Assistant State Directors. We will do our best to support the Central Indiana Chapters, Indiana, Region D, and National GWRRA staffs. We just inherited one “BIG” Family. Thanks for the opportunity to serve on the State Staff. Bob and Diana Wilson P.S.: When we stepped down as CDs, our Chapter presented us with a compass, a whistle, a state map and an orange hat. They then implied that we would need them because I always took the scenic way to places. Do you think they were trying to tell me something??? |
